Today we celebrate a victory for documentary and independent filmmakers everywhere—no, scratch that, it’s a victory for anyone who uses the Internet—as the FCC has just voted to ensure net neutrality by using its authority to treat broadband internet like a utility. The IPAT Clinic was proud to submit a comment on behalf of a large coalition of documentary and independent filmmakers including the International Documentary Association and Film Independent asking for just this. ‘Innocence of Muslims’ and What it Means for Documentary Filmmaking
Professor Jack Lerner, director of the Clinic, wrote a blog post last December after the oral argument in the closely-watched “Innocence of Muslims” case, Garcia v. Google. The Clinic co-authored an amicus brief in the case on behalf of the International Documentary Association.
